Dissemination Department - May 11th 2010
In this seminar on environmental sustainability will be reviewed the African and Asian positions around the debates generated by the United Nations Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen and, fundamentally, with regard to looking to the next convention to be held in Cancun in late this year. The Asian and African speakers will inform about the main multilateral programs in the field of sustainable development
The seminar will provide a framework for the presentation of the publication "Climate change and renewable energies in Asia and Africa", which reflects the conclusions of the international conference held in November 2009 that had the participation of over thirty global leaders, institutional representatives, experts of recognized standing and business representatives.
During the seminar the attendants will not only be in a renewable, a bioclimatic building located among wind parks, but also visit accompanied by the manager, Manuel Cendagorta, the photovolataic platform SOLTEN, which is the result of one of the most important large-scale photovoltaic installations connected to the grid held in Spain . Moreover, they will visit the bioclimática houses of ITER that began with an international competition, endorsed by the International Union of Architects, in which 397 teams of architects participated with the goal of creating a "laboratory" of dwellings using bioclimatic architectural criteria, energetically self-sufficient, and capable of optimizing their adaptation to the environment. The results obtained will be used in the composition of designs for warmer climates, which will help to reproduce the techniques developed and provide sustainable construction initiatives in the future, using proven methods that are easy to apply, and are suitable for use in other areas with similar climates, contributing to reinforce the efforts made by the Institute in matter of know-how transference and promoting the dissemination and implementation of both renewable energy systems, and energy efficiency and saving that will contribute to a decrease in the CO2 emissions.
